Why Locate in Reed City?

Local Support from the City

The City of Reed City will support all qualified projects with tax abatements allowable by law. The City will establish districts to enhance the growth or startup business that allows tax breaks to the full extent provided by current law. Districts will be determined with input from state employees knowledgeable in these areas.

Districts to be established include the following: Brownfield Redevelopment Authority which includes Business Tax Credit, Increment Financing, Principal Shopping, Business, and Improvement Districts.

Additionally, Local Development financing Authority, Neighborhood Enterprise Zone, Obsolete Property Zone and Distressed Communities zones will be established.

These zones will be considered as projects are presented for development.

City properties that are considered for the possibility of building a factory will be offered free to a business locating or expanding in Reed City. This incentive will be approved with details of the project and the employment provided.

Support from the State of Michigan

At the time a new business makes a proposal and a decision is made to proceed, the project coordinator will schedule a meeting with the State and local officials to discuss the services from various agencies.

Other Assistance

The Project Coordinator will provide all coordination necessary to bring these projects to completion – acting as a liaison with DDA, City, State and other local units of government.
